D.J. Christie, Inc was founded in the spring of 1984 in Dallas, Texas. In the early years the company focused on land acquisition, brokerage and grocery anchored retail development. The company was moved from Dallas in 1989 to the Kansas City area where it continued its focus on grocery anchored shopping center developments with clients such as Albertson's, Kroger, Fleming, Winn Dixie, Associated Wholesale Grocers, and HyVee. In the late 1990's the company began to develop for big box stores such as Home Depot, Target and Kohl's. D.J. Christie continues to do power center and strip center development. It has been one of the foremost leaders in TIF and TDD financing projects in both Kansas and Missouri.
